Our experience includes that of supply chain partner on Project Allenby/Connaught for Aspire Defence on Salisbury Plain; the South West Prime Contract for Debut Services; and Project SLAM for Lend Lease where we have contributed to the upgrade of Junior Ranks Single Living Accommodation (JRSLA) for the British Army.
Customer: Aspire Defence
Raymond Brown Construction has been undertaking a long term framework contract for Aspire Defence at Bulford. The works comprise the earth modelling, drainage and reinforced concrete works for foundation slabs and external works to single living accommodation blocks (JRSLA’s), including associated external works, two sports pitches and foundations works to two dining areas have also formed part of the contract.
Works particularly have included dealing with unmarked live services across an industrial site, demolition and groundworks, new roads and infrastructure works and installation of new paving and areas of hard and soft landscaping.
Customer: Lend Lease
The project comprised full infrastructure works including site strip excavation, drainage, surfacing and block paving, utility services ducting, street lighting and signage to allow for the construction of a new 260 residential development to house families of army personnel.
The project won the Lend Lease Defence, Justice and Schools for futures awards for the most innovative project of 2012. The site was over 100,000m² with a South/North fall of some 20m and an East/West fall of 8m.

Project SLAM is an excellent example of collaborative working with other contractors and the customer’s project management and design team, it is an extensive PFI project for the design, construction and delivery of new single living accommodation units for the junior ranks of the British Army.
Works have been carried out at a number of defence establishments across the south of England including RNAS Yeovilton, RAF Brize Norton, RMA Sandhurst, Sir John Moore Barracks, RNAS Culdrose, McMullen Barracks, RAF St Athan and CTCRM Lympstone.
Raymond Brown Construction’s works have involved the construction of groundworks, foundations and drainage for the installation of prefabricated construction accommodation blocks, and the subsequent landscaping and public realm works including paving, access road construction, footpaths and soft and hard landscaping to the surrounding areas. Our involvement with the project has seen us undertake over £14m worth of work over six years.
Customer: Landmark Support Services
Landmarc Support Services Ltd on behalf of Defence Training Estates awarded Raymond Brown this contract in two packages for enhancements to their training facilities on Salisbury Plain. The two packages of work awarded involved the installation of new explosive methods of entry points to numerous locations, new trench revetments, fencing and compound wall works.
Raymond Brown Construction was first awarded works to construct tank tracks at Salisbury Plain, these works comprised alterations and refurbishment to existing training features and camps, together with new build construction of arms caches.
In addition, the schemes also included the refurbishment of hardstandings and new parking areas, minor building alterations, roofing works, drainage improvements and the construction of new arm caches at various strategic points across Salisbury Plain.
